EAST MEETS WEST

On my latest quest to find another great food fine, I have discovered an up coming Dim Sum Restaurant. We finally have a place that East meets West cuisine. In the latest craze of Asian food in Jacksonville, we have some new Asian Bistro's, that are starting to serve my favorite food, "Dim Sum". This is my all time favorite food when I can not get "CICHETTI" from Venice
Where I grew up in California Chinese restaurants were a dime a dozen and when I would return home to California I would head straight to Foster City, just to eat at local restaurant that specialized in Dim Sum. This place was the bomb of all Dim Sum restaurants. The restaurant literally would have a line out the door just to get in.
This food fine has good Dim sum with about 20 items to choose from. The staff is friendly and serves is a little slow but polite. The prices range from $2.60 to $4.80 for about 3-4 items in a little bowl. My total bill was $13.80 and I had 3 Dim Sum bowls and Ice Tea. There is no minimum order, you could easily eat just one dim sum bowl and Ice tea and lunch would be under $10.

JACKSONVILLE HOME AND PATIO SHOW

Dominique and I got the biggest treat this year. As we were walking up to the Civic Center where the Home and Patio show was going on, this man walked up to us and asked if we had been to the show and we said "no" and out of his pocket came free tickets. At first i just thought this person was some kind of nut trying to pawn off fake tickets, but once I took off my sun glasses it was our own CHEF ROBERT from our local Winn Dixie grocery store, which has cooking secment on our local channel 4 TV station! This was a total unexpected nice surpirse!

The chef on the left is "Chef Keith Greene" from season two, Hell's Kitchen(Greene was a fan favorite to win the reality show competion during the second season) & Chef Robert and his wife Barb Catherine, are the authors of "Romantic Dinners for Two", both are from Canada

Our local channel "Fox 30", anchor man "Mark Spann" introduce the chef's as the show was getting started

PARTY TIME

Well the story goes like this. It was a birthday party at my girl friends house "Karlyn", for all those who have birthdays in Feburary. That includes Kary, Jody, Ed, Clara and myself. I had the best intentions of taking pictures of my appetizers from start to finish. Well time got away from me and now all I have is this appetizer before it was placed in the oven. I had to take a picture of the completed appetizer in the magazine to show all. This one is of a Puff Pastry pizza squares with Balsamic Duxelle. My other neighbor, Virna came down and we made cheese and Walnut-Stuffed Mushroom Bundles in Phyllo Dough, and Bacon Wrapped Water Chesnuts.
We have have a fantastice grocery store, called "Fresh Market", that has really nice specialty items and they make their own dried French rounds that are to die for. So at the last moment I made Cambozola grape and walnut canapes' Now you say "what" what is Cambozola?, well its a combination of Camembert cheese and Gorgonzola cheese mixed together.
The party was a great success and all the neighbors had a good time.
