SPRING TIME IN FLORIDA
This winter has been harsh for Florida. The last part of January Florida went from mild temps to freezing temps, which has turned the lawns dark brown and killed any plant life in its way. This heavy frost has killed any chance of my peach tree producing peaches this year. I have a hybrid Florida Snow Peach Tree which for some reason starts blooming in December. I had these amazing little peaches on my tree, the size of your thumb which now have fallen to the way side, dead and dehydrated from Mr freeze sucking all the life out of my most prized peaches. What i have been left with; is the green leaves sprouting and no peaches. Most of my little gardening has been bitten by the frost bug and now i am left with is dead plants every where.
The good news is that after two weeks of very cold weather my daffodils have bloomed. The frig is the greatest place to fake the bulbs out and think they have been cold for the long winter nap. when you buy bulbs in the fall you put the bulbs in a brown grocery bag for two months and then in the middle of January take them out, Simple put some bulb starter in the dirt along with the bulbs and waa la you have great spring flowers.
