John Denver - The Eagle And The Hawk (1977)
I posted this article last year and had to put John Denver music to my writing.
Today the weather is clear and crisp in the upper 50’s; but last night has brought a heavy frost and damage to my bedding plants along with the Peach tree! This year the peach tree bloomed early because January was so warm, but February has been bitter cold month and the peach tree buds are clinging to life. I seriously dought these little peaches buds will make it to maturity.
On my lunch hour I was at the bank and happened to look up in the sky, when I witnessed the most amazing event. The cold weather has brought out the large birds of prey looking for food. As I gazed up to the beauitfull crisp clear sky, there soaring was a RedTail Hawk gling on the thremal waves, searching high and low for food. Little did the red tail know he had company with a Bald Eagle, what a amazing site both birds in the sky at once!
From a distance an intense scream come from another Red Tail hawk. This hawk, which must be the mate of the other one, had no intention of sharing his air space with this Eagle. So out came the claws and snap to the Eagle. The Eagle laughed with pleause to the red tail hawk's febile attempt to clear the air space. This magestic red tail hawk circled the sky once more and snap to the Eagle to clear the air space. This time the eagle leaves for more profitable territory. What a moment!
A thought for the day: Our land is being destroyed by over building. How will our Birds of prey survive?. Will my children and their children get to witness such a wonderfull site, or we surcome to loosing this part of nature as well? How can both worlds survive and become one.?
