SPRING FEVER
As winter dwindles away and the scent of spring is in the air, my peach tree shows signs of life, once again, with pretty pink buds emerging from the depths of its long winter nap.
Its hard to believe that the same white peaches I grow in the back yard are the same type of peaches used to make "Bellinis' at 'Harry Bar" in Venice! I will have to find Harry's Bar, when we arrive in Venice. This over priced bar is where Hemingway drank here, when it was a characteristic no name osteria and the gondoliers' hang out. Today, of course, it's overpriced hangout of well dressed Americans who don't mind paying triple for their Bellinins (Peach juice with Processco wine) to make the scene.
I planted over 200 bulbs this past winter and my efforts are paying off with signs of dark green tips playing peek a boo. Soon we will have beautiful yellow daffodils and tulips in the flower beds showing off their pastel colors of spring.
Spring is my favorite time of year, because it brings my favorite holiday, Easter! When I lived in northern Italy, Easter was observed by thousands of Italian who made traditional foods, like polenta, lamb and spring time vegetables.
One hundred and five days and counting.
